First you register with home-swap.net. There is a special "free listing" offer in place available for promotional purpose. No further fees are levied if a swap takes place. You input details of the type of property and the area you are looking for, the type of property you have and the location, the price/value/rent range, as well as uploading details and pictures of your property.
This information is then added to the home-swap.net database, which automatically matches potential swappers. You will be alerted by e-mail when you are matched with someone. If you and a potential swapper are matched for a potential swap, you can then contact each other through home-swap.net and arrange any viewings. Please some certain home swaps involving non-privately own properties may need prior consent from legal owners. You will need to contact with the legal owners regarding this.
Home swap is also possible, because you are dealing with others who are in a similar situation, that you may be able to arrange a trial period living in or using each other's properties - a sort of "try before you buy" arrangement. You may need to get consent from your landlord for the trial perid if you do not own the property.
If you are both happy and ready to make the exchange, home-swap.net will leave you to continue the process independently. Please note there is still a legal transaction for certain swaps and there may be issues to be ironed out before the process is fully completed. For propery owners, even if a direct swap is unsuccessful, advertising a property at home-swap.net could lead to a sale of your property. Another party may still become the buyer of your property if a swap does not materialise. Or you may be able to temporarily exchange your property if you are reluctant to sell but you need to relocate for personal or financial reasons.
